Bumblebees in the garden

The small flowers on our Wall Cotoneaster (Cotoneaster horizontalis) outside the kitchen window have attracted a lot of bees over the last few days, mostly workers and males of the Early Bumblebee (Bombus pratorum)...

... I have also noted the occasional cuckoo-bumblebee Bombus sylvestris, this being a parasite of the Early Bumblebee.

The highlight today however was our second Tree Bumblebee (B. hypnorum) for the garden.

B. hypnorum again today plus at least 3 queen lapidarius and 1 terrestris queen. B. Pascuorum on purple irises but not the cotoneaster
